Chris Robinson has served as Director of UGA Cortona since 2011, following nearly a decade living and working in Cortona year-round as Associate Director and Instructor of Ceramics. He first came to Cortona as a graduate student in 2000 while earning his MFA in Ceramics at UGA’s Lamar Dodd School of Art, and returned in 2001 as an assistant to then-director R. G. Brown. Originally from Atlanta, Robinson attended the Penland School of Crafts in North Carolina as a core fellow from 1994 to 1998, where he studied wood-fired pottery, blacksmithing, glassblowing, and woodworking. He holds a BA in Ceramics with a minor in Medieval Studies from Guilford College and works to deepen the program’s curriculum integration, expand its reach across the University, and strengthen its 50-plus-year partnership with the city of Cortona.
