UGA at Oxford

UGA at Cortona

Why study abroad with UGA Cortona? Since 1970, the University of Georgia Cortona Program, located in the rolling hills of Tuscany, Italy, has been a leader in education abroad. It is UGA’s oldest study abroad program, calling the town of Cortona home for over 50 years. You will be housed in a UGA-owned facility whose foundation dates back to the 15th century with UGA staff and knowledgeable faculty on hand during your entire study abroad experience. 

Africa and Latin America Programing Initiatives

We are unit at the office of Global Engagement dedicated to the development of study away programs in Africa and Latin America. We partner with other offices and departments in the development of these programs.

UGA Washington Semester Program

In the Washington Semester Program, students intern full-time at an organization of their choice, take UGA classes and live in UGA’s Delta Hall on Capitol Hill. The program is open to all undergraduates and is UGA’s only DC-based program during the academic year. All WSP students receive scholarships to support their participation in the program.

Discover Abroad

Experience a completely different study abroad program with us. Our programs are travel-based and led by UGA faculty, allowing you to see several different locations within the country while earning a variety of UGA course credits.  Love learning outdoors? Our programs are 75% field-based which means you get the most interactive and hands-on learning experience possible. We would love to see you on one of our life-changing programs! 

UGA College of Engineering

The College of Engineering offers students exceptional study away programs designed to provide transformative international experiences. By participating in one of our programs, students can take courses that count towards their degree— all while extending their learning beyond the classroom through hands-on experiences. Students will visit historic sites, meet new people, savor exotic foods, and create lasting memories. 

UGA Domestic Field Study

UGA Domestic Field Study (DFS) programs integrate place-based, active, and experiential learning to give you immersive, off-campus learning experiences across the United States. We are your opportunity to Study Away in the USA! Our programs cover topics from dance to museum studies to marketing to geology, and everything in between. All DFS programs are taught by UGA faculty, earn direct UGA course credit, and qualify as Experiential Learning (EL) activities. 

CAES Study Abroad Programs

The College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences provides students with unique study abroad opportunities designed to offer life-changing international experiences. As the impact of our global economy grows, so does the need for employers to hire well-rounded citizens who can provide unique perspectives of the traditions, beliefs and values of other cultures.

GLOBIS Center

GLOBIS offers several Spring and Summer Study Away Programs for POLS and INTL course credit, however all majors are welcome and encouraged to apply! GLOBIS programs allow students to live and learn around the world, offering immersive instruction in Europe, Africa, the Middle East, and across the U.S. in 2025.

 

Film, Art, and Cultural History in Berlin

The program is open to all students, no German required. Welcome to a unique learning experience in BERLIN! The Film, Art, and Cultural History in Berlin program is a faculty-led three-week, 6 credits summer study abroad program that combines classroom instruction with excursions, place-based learning activities, and media-based project work. The program and its classes are designed to provide students interested in film, visual culture, German history, and German culture overall an opportunity to engage in an enriching and immersive educational experience in one of the world’s most vibrant cities.

Odum School of Ecology

At UGA’s Odum School of Ecology, we study the fundamental ecological processes that shape the world, inspire and train future generations, and create science-based solutions to environmental problems. Building on our legacy of innovation, we create change by harnessing diverse tools and perspectives in a collaborative community. 

Independent Experiences

Independent experiences are international opportunities outside of traditional realm of study abroad. Examples of such are internships, research, student teaching, fieldwork, volunteering, service-learning, and many more. Gain hands-on work experience while experiencing a new culture, building language skills, and gaining valuable life experiences by conducting an independent experience abroad.  

National Student Exchange

The National Student Exchange (NSE) provides UGA students the opportunity to study away at one of more than 170 colleges and universities. Students can apply to study at a campus in the United States, Canada, Guam, Puerto Rico, or the U.S. Virgin Islands. A variety of institutions are available; programs vary in size, location, programs offered, and native language.  

International Exchanges

Swap campuses for a semester or a full year! UGA has bilateral exchanges across the globe, providing an  immersive academic experience for exchange students.

UGA en Buenos Aires

UGABA’s fall program is a twelve-week Spanish immersion program for advanced students. Students are housed with Argentine host families and earn 12 college credits during the program. The program offers cultural activities such as tango dancing lessons, cooking classes, and museum visits as well as excursions on the weekends to an Estancia (“gaucho” ranch) and a group trip to Patagonia. 

Peace Corps

As the preeminent international service organization of the United States, the Peace Corps sends Americans abroad to tackle the most pressing needs of people around the world. Peace Corps Volunteers work at the grassroots level toward sustainable change that lives on long after their service—at the same time becoming global citizens and serving their country. When they return home, Peace Corps Volunteers bring their knowledge and experiences—and a global outlook—that enriches the lives of those around them.  

The Peace Corps Prep Certificate Program, a partnership between UGA and the Peace Corps Office of University Programs, was created to prepare graduating students for international careers. As a participant in this program, you will accrue the necessary skills and knowledge to be a potential Peace Corps Volunteer (PCV) through a combination of coursework, community outreach, and service. Securing this certificate will also enhance your competitiveness should you apply for Peace Corps service.  

FACS - Nutrition and Culinary Study in Korea and Japan

This unique program offers students an in-depth exploration of food culture, cuisine, and nutrition in South Korea and Japan. Over 18 days, students will visit key cities including Seoul, Gyeongju, Busan, Fukuoka, Kyoto, and Tokyo, experiencing both traditional and contemporary food culture of these East Asian countries. 

The program includes a variety of hands-on academic experiences such as kimchi, sushi, and traditional cuisine cooking classes, visits to a fermented sauce company, sake brewery tours, tea farm visits, and local food market explorations. Students will also engage in cultural experiences like a K-pop dance class and guided tours of famous palaces, the DMZ, museums and temples. 

UGA Education Study Away in Modena Italy

Spend Maymester experiencing Italian culture and education in beautiful Modena, Italy. The 4-week trip includes field experiences in Italian elementary and middle grades classrooms as well as culturally-rich excursions to Venice, Florence, Verona, and Cinque Terre. The program is now accepting applications from undergraduate and graduate students through February 1st.

AIFS Abroad

AIFS Abroad offers study abroad, study + internship, full-time international internships, and study + travel programs in over 20+ countries during summer, fall, and spring . Our programs are open to any major. Since 1964, AIFS has provided students with challenging educational programs in culturally diverse locations around the world. Over 50% of our students receive financial support in the form of grants or scholarships from AIFS Abroad.

Forum-Nexus

IES Abroad is an established and highly-regarded non-profit study abroad program provider and partner to UGA.  We offer UGA students an extended range of summer or semester-long programs to join for your study abroad term.  Our programs offer courses across almost every major, and are located in Europe, Latin America, Asia, Africa, and Oceania.

University of Minnesota Learning Abroad Center

The Learning Abroad Center at the University of Minnesota offers quality study abroad programs that are open to students from other colleges and universities throughout the US. We are a comprehensive resource for study, intern, community engagement, and research experiences in 11 countries around the world with major-specific programs available. 

Knowledge Exchange Institute (KEI)

The Knowledge Exchange Institute (KEI) was founded in 1997 on the belief that study abroad should be accessible to all students regardless of their academic majors, foreign language proficiency and financial means. KEI offers programs with a wide selection of major-specific, liberal arts and foreign language courses. Most KEI programs also offer optional internships (for credit) and community service.

ISI Abroad

ISI Abroad welcomes students to study abroad in Florence and Perugia, Italy for summer or semester programs. Courses are taught in English so no knowledge of Italian is necessary, though there will be plenty of opportunities to engage with the local language and culture. Our programs offer comprehensive student services (predeparture support, CISI insurance, 24-7 on-site emergency support, etc.) at every stage of the process to ensure students are prepared for a safe, rewarding, and inclusive experience in Italy.
