Incorporate the SDGs into your Curriculum

The 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are a part of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development adopted by all UN members in 2015.

We encourage all faculty to incorporate the UN SDGs into their courses abroad. The toolkit below is a faculty guide to using the SDGs as a pedagogical framework created by York University.

Attend a Workshop

OGE partners with the Office of Sustainability to offer a Study Abroad Curriculum workshop, offering a framework for how sustainability can be incorporated into your program.

Propose a Sustainability focused program

Each year, OGE invites proposals from faculty interested in developing and leading new study abroad programs for UGA undergraduate students. These programs are normally 2 to 4 weeks long, occur in the Maymester and Summer sessions, and offer 3 to 6 credits.

Study Abroad Development Grants
Successfully approved study abroad program proposals may be considered for Study Abroad Program Development Grant funding for the purpose of conducting a preparatory site visit.

Integrating Sustainability into Study Abroad Curriculum

UGA’s Office of Global Engagement and Sustainable UGA are introducing a new professional development opportunity for study abroad program directors, coordinators, and faculty, Integrating Sustainability into Study Abroad Curriculum.

The event aims to provide inspiration, strategies, resources and examples for integrating sustainability into study abroad curriculum, encouraging global citizenship and preparing students to implement creative solutions in their professional, civic and personal lives.
